Engadget features an iPad app today that will bring back memories for musicians who want a little old-school synth flavour added to their sound. And, even better, it will only set you back $14.99, which is a lot cheaper than an actual synth! The Korg iPolysix app faithfully replicates the 80s analog polyphonic synth sound, and also has lots of extras thrown in, including a Polyseq step sequencer, dual Kaoss Pads with chordal support, two synths, a drum machine and mixer making up a production environment. The app also features Polyshare, which enables you to publish your music and remix your tracks via SoundCloud. Engadget says that the price of $14.99 is a limited-time half-price offer, with the app reverting to its full price on December 31.

Also reporting on the story, SlashGear has more in-depth tech details about the app that will interest the musicians among you, as well as some background information about the history of the original Polysix, which first went on sale back in 1981.
