That sign is in Jasper, Alberta and is 100% serious. The moose like to lick the road salt off the cars.

The issue is that the moose can become habituated to cars, instead of fearing them. The result is more road collisions, which can be as fatal to humans as to moose. The answer is simply to drive away if they approach.

I assumed it was real. Made sense, but was still funny. Evidently some people thought it was satire, enough at least that Snopes felt compeled to address it in an article.
