Some games and apps are really easy to predict as potential hits, such as the likes of Plants vs. Zombies and anything by Halfbrick Games, but I confess I totally missed the appeal of an app called Let’s Create! Pottery HD when it launched, which has turned out to be a smash hit on the UK app store, with the Lite version currently sitting at number 1 in the Top Free iPad apps chart, and the full version firmly ensconced in the Top Ten Paid iPad apps chart, just behind the perennial Angry Birds. Further investigation of such a popular app was definitely in order, and now having unearthed the trailer (sorry!), the appeal of the app is completely obvious, as you can see how the iPad’s touch screen really lends itself to the idea of shaping clay with your fingertips.
Let’s Create! Pottery HD comes from award-winning Polish developers, Infinite Dreams, and enables you to create unique pottery items and share them with your friends. You get to throw the clay on the wheel and take your pick of the many different materials available, then shape your pot and fire it. It really does feel very relaxing, and not just because of the soothing bird sounds in the background. The app even has a portal where you can upload your creation and view other people’s ceramic masterpieces, and you can also sell your pots.
