Lighted screen on new iPad

How do I keep the light on my screen to last longer? The screen goes to sleep quickly and frequently.

Hi Loretta:

To do this, go to settings/general/auto lock.

From there, you can switch to a longer time before your iPad goes to sleep after being idle for x-amount of time. I have mine set for 5 minutes.
