Loading web sites long delays

I have had my iPad 2 about 6 months now and I have been very pleased with it. However, in the last few days whenever I try to go to a web site using Safari I get the "loading" signal but then it just does not get to the web site. I have switched all other Apps off but still no joy. Any ideas very welcome.
