Looking for help with giving my old ipad to my son

Hi, welcome to iPF!

That's what you have to do:
If you use iCloud and "Find my iPad" is enabled there, disable it. Then go to Settings - General - Reset - Erase all Content and Settings. This will remove all your information from the device, and you can set up the iPad as new afterwards, entering his Apple ID and informations.
