Unless you get your pdf magazines yourself into iBooks, you're better off with the Zinio app. They deliver...

Hi Ivan, i can't seem to locate Zinio app in both Cydia and App store. Where did you download from?

Zinio is in the app store and it's free. Regional restrictions maybe?

From your computer, do a google. Zinio is available for computers too. All you buy is sent to all your computers on the same account. You can read from there too.

You can also get at least the text content and some photos of magazines by using Calibre - it will upload directly to ibooks...

i get all my mags for a site called magazines download .com (without the spaces) you have so many to choose from for free that you won;t be able to keep with them.

@iVan: I meant to use Calibre to fetch the news from sites - there are many scripts on there to gather news from magazine and newspaper websites.

Good idea but seems like going through a lot of trouble.
At 10 to 15$ a year for a subscription it's cheap enough on Zinio...

So how come this topic is OK, but a topic discussing Installous (which does have a very legitimate 'try before you buy' aspect) is a big NO NO. Hypocrites!

Now, now, now! No name calling!;)
Zinio is a legitimate app that sells magazine subscriptions from the publishers themselves. I don't know why you feel that you have to fuss about it...

I'm obviously not talking about Zinio. I'm talking about pirated pdf magazines, which is what the first few posts discuss. Also, I'm not name calling, I'm just accurately describing the moral dissonance of what is and isn't allowed to be discussed.

PS> I'm fussing about this because I think we should be allowed to openly discuss Installous. It really does have legitimate uses. Until Apple actually allows a proper trial system, Installous is the only solution. I've used it to decide amongst the 10+ different Office Suite apps and eventually paid for the one I found fit my needs. I would have to pay almost $100 to do this legitimately, or just settle for a subpar product. I've also used to it wade through piles of garbage apps that are not worth a penny.
