Messenger or social media

I there guys... I'm looking for a messenger like app so I can get in contact and MSG friends in real time. What's the best program for something like this? Something with email capabilities or mailing lists would also be great. Let me know if anyone has any ideas. Thanks a bunch guys!

The BBM one sounds like a good idea... I tried this one called palringo and I wasn't very impressed by it. iMessage I assume you get from app store? All this time I thought iMessage was the "messages" one that comes with the iPad lol. Anyways, I'll look into the BBM one I guess. What's the most popular one?
