Missing Email Message

When I try to view some old emails in my Inbox the contents cannot be seen and the following message appears 'This message has not been downloaded from the server.'
How can I recover this missing message...or is it possible to recover?

If it's an Outlook/Hotmail/Live account, go to Settings - Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Tap the account, and go to "Mail Days to Sync". These will be the options you get:

Select "No Limit", if the email was sent or received more than a month ago.

Unfortuneately it is not one of these,...and Mail days to sync is not an option!

Perhaps, have you checked with your ISP? Is the mail accessible when you use a browser?
