My iphones acting weird

Know this is about ipads but my iphone is rewlly screwing up. When i flick the sound switch on the side of the iphone it normally vibrates when i flick it but when i do it now, it vibrates randomly like 5 minutes later. When i push the home button, it might not change the first time but i might have to push it another 2 times or i might have to push it really hard. This is the iphone 3gs by the way. Do i need a new iphone because i have had it for quite a while or should i just get it repared? Thanks
