Don't have a tablet, was debating between Xoom & iPad 2, but after reading the specs and considering factors tech blogs aren't such as:

  • Longevity of product
  • Support online
  • Do I really need flash?

I decided to go iPad 2. Can't wait to get it! I already have an iPod, so I have some knowledge of Apple products and my wife has an iPhone 4 her job gave her to use. So I know the OS is very reliable. Unlike my Android 1.6 & 2.2. The 2.2 is better, but the 1.6 on my G1 is unbearable. Slow, many errors, etc. make me want to pull my hair out!

Look forward to being a part of the forum :)

Hi, there! Another "noob?" here! :)

I too plan on buying the iPad2 on Friday, however I'm not sure where. Does it make a difference whether one buys from the Apple store or a place like Verizon? I have had an old iPhone for years, with AT&T, and have been waiting to switch to Verizon. Now that we hear that the iPhone 5 is coming to Verizon in (probably) a few months, I'm going to wait until then. Would there be any advantage to buying the new iPad at Verizon and setting up an account with them, considering I'll be there when the iPhone 5 comes out?

Or would there be an advantage to sticking with the Apple store, or going to a place like Best Buy? I do buy a lot of things via Amazon, so I'll likely be checking for a case there.

Looking forward to being part of the community here, especially after getting the iPad2 and wanting to discuss it with other folks. :-)

I'd like to, but I want to play with one first. Then decide whether to buy the iPad2 or to just find the 1st gen iPad on craigslist for a little cheaper and just use (which I like using already).

Have a look at that video on Techcrunch (OMG/JK) where an apple fan and an android fan talk about the iPad2 and Xoom. The guy who bought the xoom is well pissed and his frustration with the device is obvious, to the apple fan's delight......
