New iPad mirror to tv

Is there any way to fill the wide screen tv with the iPad screen using an apple tv, at the moment it does not fill to the left and right of the screen.

The dimensions of a modern digital TV are not the same, hence the black either side, to fill it, you would have to "stretch" the iPad screen, making the screen look weird. Some TVs may let you do this by adjusting the aspect ratio in the TV settings.
