Have you moved the side switch? If it is set to lock rotation in settings, and the orange dot is visible in the switch, your display is locked. Slide it to enable rotation.

Wish I had looked up this forum straight away - it took 1 minute to resolve the problem!! Yes, I had inadvertently moved the side switch.
