New iPad2 sync to iTunes issue

I have been syncing my iPhone to iTunes with no issues for years. All software is up to date. I just received an iPad2 for Father's day. I plugged it in to my computer with iTunes running and it froze up iTunes immediately. Rebooted the computer, tried again, same results. What's going on?

Do you have the latest version of iTunes? If you've been using iTunes for years and have not updated it then this may well be the problem. If my memory serves me correctly (and it probably doesn't) you need iTunes 10.1.2 at least...

iPad2 problems solved!

In iTunes, went to devices and turned off auto sync. Restarted iTunes and now the iPad connected well. Thanks for your help.
