New member seeking help with avi player

Hi, new member who finally joined the apple ranks with an iPad at Christmas. Getting on well despite a few syncing issues. My current issue is trying to play avi files on my stock ipad2. I have a helmet video camera which records on an sd card in avi format. Using the camera connection kit I can download from the sd card to the photo player On my ipd2 but when trying to open it will not work as avi is not supported. Is there a player out there that will pay avi files WITHOUT connection to a pc, lap top, wifi or any other external device. I want to view video taken whilst away on holiday.

Thanks for any advice offered.
