Hi. I just got an iPad 2 for Christmas. The wonderful person who purchased it wasn't sure what to buy do he bought me a 16 gb 3G with wifi. I'm only concerned the 16 gb won't be enough space. Any thoughts? It is for home use and will be mostly used to read books, check email, surf Internet and put some movies on it during vacations. Would love some knowledgeable feedback.

Welcome! Unless you book a lot of movies on your iPad ~ you should be fine. See what others say! I have the biggest, and I have NO movies, NO music, and not even 20 apps!

When I get the iPad3, I will get your size or the 32GB.

Hi there and welcome.

There is lots of good advice and info on here plus plenty of members all too willing to help with any problems.

Remember, search is your friend. If you can't find the answer you need and you post a question then give as much info as you can to help members help you i.e. iPad 1 or 2, iOS version and name of app if the problem is with a specific app........and please don't forget to read the rules http://www.ipadforums.net/forum-rules-help-info/2119-forum-rules-everybody-please-read.html

These are the hacking section rules for all you jail breakers (and would be jail breakers) http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/2892-hacking-section-rules-please-read.html

We also have an app for this forum. The link to download the app is: Discussion Forum for iPad Users for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

You can download the manual for your iPad here http://support.apple.com/manuals/ and in iBooks search for "iPad user guide for" and you will find free comprehensive manuals for both iOS 4 and 5.

If you have other Apple products or are interested in other Apple kit then why not join our sister forum too at http://www.appleforums.net/

Finally, if you still haven't had enough, how about a video explaining about our other forums (note:you may want to play this at half speed but hey, why shouldn't Phil be excited about our forums!)

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Regarding your question if you want to put movies on your iPad well they can take up quite a bit of space. If you're good at managing your iPad you could just leave your movies on your computer and swap them out when you want them, but if not I would be going for a larger capacity. Others will chime in with their thoughts but Apple do have a 14 day window from when its purchased where you can upgrade to a bigger model.

If it's not too late, you can also consider a network attached storage (NAS). You can stream movies, pictures, etc. and these will also be available to other wifi devices. It takes some setup time, but well worth the effort. If you travel, you can set up the NAS so you can access it from the internet.
