Hi, Dianna79! Welcome to iPF!
For a start, and to get to know your device a little better, here's a link to the iPad User Guide: http://help.apple.com/ipad/7/
This one is for devices running the latest software.
There are also ebooks available in iBooks Store (an Apple app that has to be downloaded through App Store), or you look for instructions as PDF (these can be found on Apple's support site) and save these to one of the apps on your iPad.
