Ipad truck support

That sounds like the built in google maps app that is on the iphone...its not nav...it will show you where you are and how to get somewhere, but navigation means it will tell you turn by turn as you go. Seems like a very inappropriate device for that function tho...way too big...you gonna mount it on the dash?

For the car use the size is too big, but for the truck is really perfect , they can also watch movie when they have rest ....

The 3G iPad would make a great car GPS provided you can find a suitable stand for it. I find my Garmin too small for a quick glance, if my eyes remain on it too long it could be dangerous...

The iPad with a zoomed in view would work wonders.

Let's see a good dash mount, big screen, movie capable, mobile internet capable....
Reading the NY Times on the way to work.
Can you imagine the accidents this thing would cause???

Hya of course if you start to think to watch you're favorite ''Porn Star'' on the way to work that can be dangerous :D
(joke Mode: off)

as GPS he can be a good device, but for sure for other than this it will be dangerous except as Ipod function ... exactly like the IPHONE

Well, there's our problem right there--we're using different definitions of "navigation". And yup, you're right--I'd think the iPad would be a lot more cumbersome than a Garmin or equivalent for the job. Not to mention that it will likely fall under my state's law that says, "no looking at TV or computer screens while driving".

My goodness. And we can't even seem to mass either a hands free only law or a ban on texting behind the wheel in my strip of USA. I wonder if there was a way foe the acceloromiter to figure out when the it iPad was being missused ;)

Aaah! But the iPad would have something for it as a GPS that would prevent temptations liable to accidents...
No multitasking!...:p

I can see these suckers velcroed to the steering wheel, scary thought.

Considering that in my long-commute days I saw:
Guys shaving
Women putting on make-up
Both sexes blow-drying their hair
Both sexes reading books and/or newspapers
Both sexes eating outsized burgers or sandwiches that took both hands
Both sexes with open laptops or notebook computers wedged between themselves and the steering wheel
Both sexes with a cellular wedged up to their ear while flipping through a file folder braced against the steering wheel

all while driving, let's just say I wouldn't be surprised. In all fairness, while I never saw a guy putting on make-up while driving, some of the women may have been shaving, just not their faces. :p

Unfortunately that punishes everyone that isn't driving too. My car headunit has a DVD player that stupidly has a handbrake switch, so you can't watch a movie while the car is in motion (mine is bypassed with a switch under the dash tho) but this means that if you are on a long trip and the person in the passenger seat wants to watch a movie they can't. That is pretty lame.

Try openning a .m3u streaming file in mobile safari and then using other apps (no web-browseing while doing that :( ), but it works. You can even save the .m3u link to your home Screen.

I admit I tries to hack together a standalone web page with embeded audio stream to see if it could run outside Mobile Safari, but it cuts out when I return to the home scree :( .
