Hi all
I have had my first generation iPad for a week now so really at beginner stage. I have just added my email account and was going to link my work account as well but don't sem to be able to. What ever I do just gets me back to my inbox on the first account. I have been to settings then mail and I just get back to hotmail messages. I don't do any better going through restrictions etc.
Any advice would be appreciated.

As a teacher I would also like to know I can link the iPad to a projector in my Classroom to show powerpoints etc.
Anyone got any other advice on how I can use it in education? Or do I have the wrong generation ipad to allow me to do much....... So many questions I hope someone will have time to help with some answers.

There seems to be lots of support out there and have read many threads, look forward to hearing from you.

To configure your work email you will likely have to speak with the admins of your email systems to obtain the correct inbound and outbound smtp server information. If it is an Exchange account then it is very possible they will set you up to hit webmail which is basically a web client of exchange that can be accessed without having to be on the local area network. It's a quick process and I'm sure the admins have setup a number of iPads already.

While you are at it I would advise you ask the admins to also setup VPN for you. VPN allows you to attach to your work network remotely and access databases you can only access while at work. Comes in handy if you are doing some work from home that requires network resources.

The iPad and a projector..... Unfortunately an iPad cannot be attached to a proxima or similar projector designed for use with laptops readily.

There is an Apple dock connector that will allow you to connect to them but their use is limited to specific content like movies, sideshows, and Keynote presentations.

In order to fully replicate your iPad screen to another device mirroring and AirPlay (both functions of iOS) are required. The most common way of mirroring is accomplished via AppleTV or an Apple HDMI cable in tandem with an HDMI input capable device which in most cases is a television or flat screen computer monitor. Most if not all new televisions have one or more HDMI ports available for such use as do display monitors.

Hi thanks for replies.
Iset up my hotmail yesterday so when I touch mail icon it accesses inbox immediately not sure I really like this but not a big issue. When I have tried to add or make changes to my account I have gone to general settings mail, contacts, calendar touched the line and all that happens is I get returned to home page.
I have been to the restrictions setting all this section is inactive apart from enable restrictions when I touch this I get a pass code pad as I am not sure what this is all about I just cancel the action. I don't want to activate something that I do not understand for fear of losing current functions which all seems fine apart from the above email issue.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like the app is crashing back to the home screen, when an app behaves strangely it is best to close it completely and then relaunch it. From the home screen do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar. These are all the apps that you have opened at one time. Long press the app until it jiggles and a red minus sign will appear above it. Press the minus sign, this will close the app, not delete it, now press the home button to return to your screen. It's also a good idea to close all these apps, as it helps the iPad run smoothly. See if it is now operating if not a restart is in order.

Press and hold the power off button, the one at the top right. You will see a slide appear to power off, slide this and the screen will go dark and a Whirly will appear. When the Whirly disappears your iPad is now off. Press the power button again until the Apple logo appears, this will take a few seconds and your iPad will restart. You should restart your iPad occasionally also as it will keep it running well. Now see if it is operating, if not a reset is the next step.

Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. Now see if it is operating properly.

The Passcode is needed to set up restrictions on your iPad, it will ask you for this code twice here. The reason for this is if you were to say let a child play with your iPad you can set up restrictions so that they won't be able to install or delete apps, not have access to certain apps, safari, FaceTime etc or you could set it up to only allow apps to be installed which are suitable for a certain age. It is a very handy feature on the iPad, it's simple to set up and you can always change what you have done as long as you remember that code that you have used here.

Let us know how you go with your mail settings issue.

I have followed the steps outlined but it has made no difference, but thank you for responding to my request for help.
