I am a new iPad owner of a first generation iPad and I wanted to know if anyone else feels like they would be okay with there first generation, despite the upgrades in the future, I think if it serves it's purpose for you then why upgrade, what's your opinion?

Hello Ezeelivin - welcome to the forum! :)

My first one was an iPad2 bought in April, so I cannot really compare the two machines (except to read about the differences) - if the iPad 1 serves your purposes, then I see no problem with using the device; but there are MANY things that an iPad can be useful, so if a newer machine (even the next iPad) addresses a need(s) of yours, then you will have to make a decision - enjoy for the time being and post if you have further issues!

Thanks for your opinion, it's just that I chose the 1 gen. Instead of the second, not just for the significance of it being the first but, I think the 2 may not be user friendly in a lot of ways like taking pics, I understand the importance of the camera on the 2 but traditionally the phone camera is more user friendly, that's just my opinion

Well, the 2 cameras on the iPad 2 are lousy for still images; each is under 1 megapixel in resolution which is OK for teleconferencing and basic video - so don't consider using the iPad for your still photos - why Apple did not put a better camera into the iPad 2 is not explainable to me, especially considering the good camera in the recent iPhones. :)

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad
