NewPad app

i have this app on my iPad and there is a lot of information on it over a long period of time. Since upgrading to iOS 11 I get a message that unless it is updated it will not open on 11. I don’t have a way to update it. Is there some way for me to retrieve the information stored on the app?
Thanks.

This means the app has not been updated from a 32 bit only app. The developer will have to update the app before it will work on iOS 11.

You may be able to retrive the files using the File Transfer feature of iTunes on a computer, or the third party computer app iMazing. If the files are in a standard format, you can then use them in another app. If not, you’re at the developer’s mercy.

Were you running iOS 10 before your update? There should have been several pop-up warnings about apps that were not iOS 11 ready.

I can’t see the app in the AppStore, but that may be because the store is hiding app I can’t use from me. You should track down the developer’s support site and see if they plan to update the app and when. They may also supply a way to migrate/retrive your data.

Good luck.

I am in exactly the same situation, having some 100 documents on New Pad, which I cannot access. VERY annoying. Anyone got any answers yet please?

Have you tried looking in the File Transfer section of iTunes (on a computer with your iPad connected), or iMazing (it has a free trial vesion)?

Unless by some magic NewPad’s folder is showing up in the Files app, I have no other ideas.

According to AppShopper “NewPad” has been removed from the App Store. It was last updated 15 Feb 2013. I can find no evidence of it on the App Store, so this is all the info I can find.

The developer was Ziga Kranjec, who’s only current app is Unicode Pad (and some variations). You could try to contact them.

Thanks very much for your advice. Not promising and have now cut my losses to use
IA WRITER
Cheers!

I’ve heard good things about IA Writer.

I have Byword (Markup support) and Textilus Pro (RTF support) as my text editors; not that I use them much. Neither makes a good Notes app; so I mostly use Notes. An neither is good at collaboration, so I use Google Docs for that.

I managed to find the developer and this is what he sent to me:

All is not lost. Keep the app installed.
I have come up with some fixes to let you run the app on iOS 11 and also get your files via iTunes file sharing.
It is being submitted to the app store and should be available in a few days, ass soon as it manages to get through review.
Hopefully this will help the situation.

It is really a bit of a bummer. I lost a bunch of data in old apps as well.
Actually, the iPad has been warning about this for the last year or so.

NewPad has not been available or maintained for years now, since iOS 6 or so.
It seemed everybody was be using Pages or Notes by now, since they are bundled and much better.

Kudos to the developer is helping out. Not all developers are as willing to help with the apps they no longer sell.

That’s a good recommendation for the App and great news as well!

Unless the developer has stated their intent to support the app going forward (previous last updated 2013), I’m not sure it’s a recomendation for the app. I’d be migrating my content.

However, I am super impressed by their resonse and support for legacy users. Enough so that I went out and bought Unicode Pad Pro. Besides supporting a hard working developer, it looks to be much better than my current Unicode app.

Addendum: Just played around with Unicode Pad Pro, and this is by far the most powerful and flexible Unicode app I’ve seen to date. The only iOS 11 feature that is missing (at first glance) is drag and drop. I’m very happy with this purchase

I don’t need a unicode app offten, but when I do this one should fill the role nicely.
