No bluetooth connection to my Macbook

Why can't I get my MacBook and IPad to connect by Bluetooth. I can pair them but the iPad will not connect. I thought I would be able to get them to talk to each other.

There seems to be a VERY limited variety of things that the iPad's (and the iPhone's) Bluetooth can do. Tethering between a device and a pad/phone that have 3g, some accessories such as external keyboard and perhaps a few audio-listening devices (headphones), and some GPS external devices is about all I know of. More versatility in this great protocol would be wonderful, and will probably improve in the future of the tablet... hopefully sooner than later.
