Hi from California everyone. Grandmother of eight, am semi-retired, semi-computer literate, got an I pad for Christmas and don't understand how use it. I need help! It's frozen. How do I unfreeze it. Thank you for any info on how to get it working again.

Soft reset - hold down sleep button and home button.

Just to add to what Spink10 said, you need to hold those buttons down for quite a time before it will reset - about 10 seconds.
