Notes app on ipad 3 won't open

I am running version 5.1.1 and this morning my Notes app stopped opening. A blank note page open & flashes on the
screen for a second then it bumps back to my home screen. I have tried rebooting and restarting 3 times with no luck.
Any ideas?
