In less than a week we’ll finally get to see the next generation of iPads unveiled by Apple, but until then we’ll have to just make do with what are said to be pictures of some of the iPad Air 2’s internal parts that have been published by Apple.club.tw today, via MacRumors.
According to MacRumors, the images show several different parts from the next iPad Air, including the logic board, home button flex cable, front panel and volume control flex.
The pictures reveal that there is a space in the home button flex cable for what would most likely be a Touch ID home button, as has recently been widely rumoured. And the logic board picture clearly shows an A8 processor. Further, in an update to their original story, MacRumors confirms that one of their forum members, primoridan, has enhanced the contrast in the logic board photo to reveal that the A8 chip is in fact an A8X chip, as has also been recently rumoured. It's likely that this is an enhanced version of the new A8 chip.
MacRumors also notes that the logic board seems to have a different layout to that of the iPad Air, with the SIM slot now situated on the logic board itself, rather than having its own separate compartment.
