I hate phones and although I have an iPhone, I rarely use it. I live in Panama and I'm just waiting around trying to figure out which version of the new iPad I should buy. I travel a lot and am not that frequently in the US anymore. I guess I need just the plain vanilla WiFi $499 one, right?

If you travel (within your own country) a lot then surely 3G would be helpful so you can go online when there is no WiFi? That said, if you have an iPhone anyway then you could tether it to the iPad using the iPhone as a mobile hotspot and therefore removing the need for 3G; this is presuming your network/carrier allows this. If travelling outside of your country then 3G would not be so useful as it will likely be cheaper to find and pay for a WiFi connection.

Next questions is memory size - are you going to ram it full of films to watch while you travel, therefore needing something like a 32GB or 64GB one, or is it just for a bit of music and Internet browsing etc. meaning 16GB should be fine?

Hi John and welcome to the Forum!

I have seen many members disappointed that they only got the 16gb. It's not until you have an iPad that you realize all the many wonderful things it can be used for. I have 3G and am so glad, I travel frequently and although I normally stay in hotels with free wifi, I run across a few that have daily rates, so then I just buy a sim. I also love going for long drives and the GPS is wonderful to have on a large screen, and for this you don't have to even use a 3G sim. It's a personal choice really and what you know you'll use it for.
