Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen Discovers Xrays on this day in 1895!

Well, an important event for me - I trained as a radiologist (1972-75), was an Army radiologist (1975-77), the then an academic radiologist for 34 years (1977-2011) - the changes in medical imaging based not only on the xray (such as CT scanning), but on other newer technologies, such as MR imaging were remarkable throughout that nearly 40 year span .

Rontgen discovered the xray this day in 1895 - pic of him below and also the first 'human' xray of his wife's hand - when she saw her skeleton she exclaimed "I have seen my death!" For his discovery, Rontgen was awarded the first Nobel prize in Physics in 1901. Dave :)

On this day in 1895, physicist Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen (1845-1923) becomes the first person to observe X-rays, a significant scientific advancement that would ultimately benefit a variety of fields, most of all medicine, by making the invisible visible. Rontgen’s discovery occurred accidentally in his Wurzburg, Germany, lab, where he was testing whether cathode rays could pass through glass when he noticed a glow coming from a nearby chemically coated screen. He dubbed the rays that caused this glow X-rays because of their unknown nature (Source).

Hi Johanna - thanks for the reminder; just checked my classical music collection and have two sets of works bought a while ago (shown below) - time for me to see 'what's new' and possibly better - I'm a "big culler" of my audio and video collections - always something new and better coming out! :) Dave

Hi Brixtonboy - glad to see another contributor here, but your description is rather terse - ;) Assume you mean the 'band', but when posting in this thread, the year is typically given along w/ a description of the event, and a pic or two helps, plus a link (or several) - Dave :)

Thanks for that, l know how it works but not wishing to upset anyone with my posting l decided to delete it.
Tried to but couldn't so posted ABC.
It will not happen again Dave

Sesame Street Debuts This Day in 1969!

Sesame Street debuts nearly a half century ago in 1969 - our son was born in 1973, and was soon watching the show for many of his young years - wife & I still love the characters; guess that Kermit & Elmo remain my favorite, but there are so may great ones! :) Dave
On this day in 1969, “Sesame Street,” a pioneering TV show that would teach generations of young children the alphabet and how to count, makes its broadcast debut. “Sesame Street,” with its memorable theme song (“Can you tell me how to get/How to get to Sesame Street”), went on to become the most widely viewed children’s program in the world. It has aired in more than 120 countries (Source).
