in 1973, the Northern California town of Antelope ceased to exist. A train, carting munitions for the Navy, caught on fire and blew up (a whole train). There were thousands of bombs that went off, a few hundred people died, thousands of buildings were damaged (as far away as a mile and a quarter). About 15 years ago they were building infrastructure up there and found more unexplored bombs and the like.

1982: French Canadian Formula One driver Gilles Villeneuve is killed during practice in the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix at Zolder.

1994: Three-time Formula One world champion Ayrton Senna is killed in an accident during the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola.
