there are probably some threads out there that deal with this topic - but I could figure out a search
I downloaded the upgrade to the new os this week while syncing calendars and presto - lost the ability to lock the screen orientation in vertical or landscape format!!! grr - what the toggle does now is turn the speakers on and off - a useless function imo
is there any way to undo/erase the upgrade?

When you get some time, I suggest you download a copy of the iPad User Guide. It is available for free in several different formats.

a) As a free PDF download from the Apple website --

Apple - Support - Manuals

This can (and should!) be saved on your computer and your iPad.

b) As a free iBook once you download the free iBook app from the iTunes App Store.

c) Online using the link provided in the Safari favorites on your iPad.

The answers to many questions, especially if this is your first Apple mobile "iDevice", can be answered by spending some quality time with this handy document.

Don't know if it was worth downgrading. You can still get to the screen lock by double tapping the home button, swiping right on the multitask bar, and locking it there. You get a lot of other new features to offset the annoyance.

4.3 will give you the option (probably) of changing the button back to a screen lock. That version upgrade is probably no more than a month or two away. Sooner if current rumors hold.
