If so, does anyone know whether the newer version of Safari will be available for the iPad 1?
If you haven't updated your iOS yet and are considering updating to iOS 5.1.1 on your iPad 1,better do it before iOS 6 is released. Once Apple stops signing iOS 5.1.1,it will be too late.

Apple won't stop signing 5.1.1 for iPad1 if that remains the last / current version of IOS for it. They will only stop signing it for devices where there is a newer version available. Otherwise, anyone who ran into problems with their iPad1 would not be able to do anything about it. Just because Apple are no longer providing new version of IOS for the iPad1, it does not mean they are no longer supporting it
Thanks, for the correction,I was in error.
