The report today is that experts calculate that over 500,000 iPads were sold by all sources. What is real interesting is that it was done within about 24 hours compared to the 3 days it took the original iPad to reach 300,000 sold. In another interesting fact, they stated that unlike most introductions of an existing product, the vast majority of the buyers were not people upgrading. 70% of the buyers were new to the iPad.
There was also a hands on evaluation of the iPad vs Xoom, in another report, that put the iPad ahead of the Xoom. Interesting enough, it said that while the iPad cannot work Flash, the sites which support Flash on tablets, is a degraded view from the PC version. They also mentioned that many of the sites that support the iPad cannot be viewed by the Xoom. I do not know the reason for that, but I got the impression that was that the programming used to show video on the iPad would give a better experience than the tablet flash version. Finally, they said that the iPad expereince was a smoother and more advanced overall.
