Pages on ipad

Heey guys,
I'm about to buy a Ipad. But i'm still not really sure. I want a netbook or an ipad. I wanna use it for school and just for home. But if i write something in pages on an ipad can i still send it to my schoolfriends? and can they open it in word?? And if i get a word document from my schoolfriends can i open it then??

Hi!
There are several application that can handle your files. I use Pages and Documents to go. These applications can manage the Office files you are getting from school. You can also create new documents and send them to your schoolfriends.
I had a netbook before and now I use a Ipad instead. I don't regret my choice.
