When I connect my iPad to my PC with USB, it used to appear in MS Explorer and ITunes would automatically start the Sync process. Suddenly nothing!

What have I done?

Hello and welcome to the forum - you are obviously in 'panic mode' - ;) Let's first start w/ providing us w/ additional information: 1) What iPad model do you own; 2) What iOS is installed; 3) What PC do you have and version of Windows; 4) What iTunes version is on your PC and is the program updated to the current version; and 5) Have you recently updated/upgraded the iPad software? These questions might just get us get started in offering some specific suggestions.

For starters, make sure that your iTunes is the most recent version and also 'Reset' the iPad and try again - to reset, hold the HOME & ON-OFF buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears (may take up to 10 secs or so), allow the iPad to reboot, and then try to reconnect the iPad via USB - let us know if this helps. Dave :)

Hi giradman

Try these numbers:
1) iPad Air
2) 9.2.1 (13D15)
3)
My machine is Intel QuadCore i5-3470 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 16 GB RAM, MS Windows 7 Home Premium v. 6.1 64-bit SP1.
4) I don't know how to confirm this but I update it when I am told to.

I don't know about "hold the HOME & ON-OFF buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears (may take up to 10 secs or so)," but I powered off and rebooted (I had done this before) AND THE DARNED THING WORKED - sync and all!

I think you might have scared it!

Thanks

Hi again - glad that your problem was resolved - to answer question #4 above, simply go to Settings -> General -> About, then look half way down the right-hand column for Version, current one is 9.2.1.

Below is a quote that I've left many times in several forums - appears that a 'Restart' corrected your issue, however, a 'Reset' may be needed at times (notice the 'Note' at the end). Dave :)

When an app (or several) are misbehaving, I usually go through the following steps:

1. Force Close - open the multi-tasking bar (double tap the 'home buttom’) - iOS 8.x/9.x - find the offending app - then press and drag to the top of the screen - return to the home screen & try again.

2. Restart - press & hold the 'Sleep/Awake' (a.k.a. power) button until a red slider appears (may take a few seconds) - move the slider to turn off the iPad; then press & hold the same button until the Apple logo appears - wait for a restart.

3. Reset - press & hold the 'Power' and 'Home' buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears (this may take longer); release the buttons and the iPad will 're-boot' - NOTE that none of these maneuvers will alter your apps, files, or settings.
