Hi to all,

I've been using iPad/iPad 2 for over a year, and recently have wanted to find a way to be able to offload some of my data onto my laptop in order to create some more space on my iPad 2 (i only have the 16 GB version). I thought iCloud was the answer, should've known better. Then Drop Box...too small. Then I found SkyDrive. I think this is what I'm looking for...except I don't know how to get info back FROM my laptop to my iPad.
Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

I use SkyDrive, it being more generous in providing 7 free gigs compared to DropBox's 2gigs ( further storage purchases quite reasonable in price also) I hope I am not telling something you already know.
Simply download the iPad's SkyDrive App and then onto your PC the SkyDrive App suitable for that (I have Win7 recently updated to Win8) and it's a simple matter to sync all your data back and forth between the two devices. Just copy/paste or drag and drop stuff into your PC's SkyDrive file and it will appear in your iPad's SkyDrive App.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I did that, but where do I drag/drop my files/pictures onto PC? The SkyDrive icon?

From the SkyDrive icon on your PC you can create/use your SkyDrive Folder, either on the Desktop or say My Documents. It is the contents of that folder that will be synced.

Thanks for the reply. I did exactly that, but where do I drag and drop my files/pictures to? The SkyDrive icon?

Use the skydrive App on your iPad. Open it. Make sure you are logged into your skydrive account on your iPad. Then you can start selecting photos from your iPad copy to your skydrive. You can tap many photos, one at a time, and then transfer them to your skydrive. After that, you can delete them from iPad.

I think the OP was more concerned about what do once he gets the SkyDrive icon onto his PC and then how to sync from PC to iPad. Once he drops his info into the PC's sky drive folder, the next time he opens the iPad's SkyDry App that info will be there.

Hi to all,

Thanks for all of the replies. I guess the thing I'm not getting is how to set up a SkyDrive folder on my PC. All have is an icon with the SkyDrive logo on it. When I double-click on it, it displays a prompt, "Preparing for first time use", or something to that effect. I've already used it the first time. Then once it loads, it proceeds to go through a very short tutorial (20 seconds long), and that's it. The program then shuts down (or locks up, requiring the system to search for a solution and shut it down).

Isn't there another SkyDrive folder where I can drag-and-drop files and pictures to? I really never thought this would be this difficult, unless there's something painfully obvious I'm missing.

Again, thanks for all of the help I've received so far. I really appreciate it.

Well I believe that I just figured this out. I found that there is no folder per se, I had to enter the SkyDrive.com website, and manage all of my data there. So far so good. I really want to thank those that offered suggestions, I really appreciate it.

I'm really glad you figured it out as I was at the point where I had forgotten most of what I had done myself to set it up, so it had got to be hard to really advise you correctly. I remember setting up with log-in info and from there it was easier. Anyway, good on you for working it out.
All the best, Andrew
