Personal Database for "New iPad"

Hi everyone.
Just purchased my first iPad yesterday. Very excited about that.

Besides having fun with it (books, music, movies, etc.), I also want to use it to store my list of contacts. I work in media and I have a couple of thousands names.
Currently, these are stored in Palm Desktop. And, I backed them up as .aba files. (I think I can probably save them in other formats too).

Ideally, I would like to transfer these names into my new iPad.
I don't know which application would be best.

I read a lot about Bento. But, I'm not convinced. Especially, because my desktop is a PC.
Some also recommend HanDbase.

Which application would you recommend?
Ideally, so I can transfer my data.
And if I can't, which one is the best to start from scratch?

I've been using HanDBase on my handhelds for a few years. I now use it on both my iPhone and iPad. Works great.

I had a similar problem with my Psion Series 5 database files.

I exported them in comma separated format files, then opened them in xls format spreadsheets, then converted them to PDFs via a free online file conversion service.

I use GoodReader to view the PDFs on the iPad.
