Phantom emails

Ever since I upgraded to iOS 7 my email shows I have unread messages. The number keeps climbing and will not disappear. This's happens when I read emails on my blackberry or PC and for some reason iPad doesn't recognize that I've already read it or even deleted it.

Ironically, this happens with my blackberry when I read something on my iPad first (stupid blackberry) but it never happened on my iPad when I was using iOS 6, only after I upgraded.

I have shut it down, deleted the email, added back email etc and nothing seems to help.

Any advice?

Hi, welcome to iPF!

The usual fixes it something isn't working as it should:

Reset your device:
Press and hold Home and Power button until the Apple logo appears.

Restart it:
Turn it off, wait for a few minutes and turn it on again.

Force close the app:
Double tap Home button to reveal the multitask bar, then drag thumbnails upwards towards the top of the screen.

If these won't help, open your Mail app, tap "Edit" (Inbox) and mark all emails as read.

Last possibility:
Access your email account through a browser and try to fix this there (mark as read).

I tried all of these things. Even deleted yahoo from iPad email and re added. Unread number still climbing but no real unread emails. Anything else you can think of?

Sorry. I missed marking all read on iPad and that worked. I will keep you posted if any more issues. Thanks
