Questions about iPad

Hi All,

I am new to this site. I was talking to a friend at work on Friday and she told me that her friend has bought an iPad recently for about $800 Aust, one off price and she does not need to have internet to browse the web, play games or phone her husband who is overseas. Is this possible? She said that it uses the satellite...is this correct? If it is, do you know what the model of this iPad is?

Sorry, I am new to all these. I want to purchase an iPad but obviously if this is true, this will be an ideal one to get.

Hi there and welcome.

There are only two types of iPad, wifi only or wifi plus 3G. Hope that helps.
