I haved joined to see if I can get music from MacBook to iPad and from there to the radio car speakers.. (old car 1997)..
Thank you to anyone who tries to help me ( I'm old too)...

Music onto the iPad is easily achieved using iTunes. Once you have music on the iPad, you can get an FM transmitter from WalMart, Radio Shack or the like which will plug into your dock connector and transmit. Simply tune your car radio to the correct frequency and you will have sounds. There is usually a choice of four frequencies so that you can avoid existing FM stations.
 
I wouldn't use an iPad in the car to play music, unless you can dock it, the chance of bumping the screen is high, slightly off topic I installed a fairly cheap Sony sound deck system that has an AUX port for iPod,iPhone or iPad playback, but more importantly has a USB port for flash memory sticks, I use the USB port for short trips and long trips you can use an IPad for music selection.
I previously had an fm tuner to convert music as stated in previous post but found it locked onto radio stations too easily.
