Read hot mails imported as new mails

I am new to iPad. Just synced my hotmail account to iPad. After setting up, the iPad shows all the mails as new unread mails.

Is there a way to get around this ? Thanks.

Try to set your hotmail account to "Microsoft Exchange" instead.
Settings-> Mail,Contacts,Calendars -> Add Account ->Microsoft Exchange -> Fill with your account info (domain blanked) ->server: m.hotmail.com ->Done
