Repair Shop ?

My friend has a Ipad generation 1. He stepped on his I pad and cracked the glass. He ordered new glass and clips and put the Ipad back together. The problem now is the Ipad has a few dead zones where he has to rotate the device to use the keyboard because certain letters will not work. The same with apps in the top right corner.

What would cause this ? Is there a good repair shop that the Ipad could be mailed to for repairs that has decent prices and short turnaround time ? He doesn't want to take the new glass out and attempt any more repairs.
