request 4 help on ipad code locked

sorry if this is in wrong place a bit of a newbie

Ive an ipad that has been in work for a long time the original user has left and ive been given the pad to take home as it is locked and no one knows the pin or original email or id for unlocking. Ive tried a recovery just using iTunes and to no benefit still locked that was about a year ago so its on older firmware (not sure which one)

Is there any way round this? Any help appreciated

This doesn’t look like an iPad disabled because of of the wrong passcode. Recovery mode would have removed the old passcode.

I think this iPad is connected to an iCloud ID.
There’s no way around this. You’ll need the former user’s password in order to use it. He/she will have to remove it from his/her iCloud ID, if you don’t want to experience this situation over and over again. If anyone can still contact the former user, ask him/her to do so.
