Safari screen frozen for everything but navigation bar

My new IPAD 2 worked fine until the touch screen froze on Safari. The navigation controls work on the top, but nothing on the screen itself. Other functions appear to be okay. What did I do wrong? Thanks!

It happens to me as well from time to time. From home screen double tap th home button and safari will appear in a list at the bottom of your screen tap anld hold on it when it pops up and a red - will appear on it. Hit it again and it will close safari. Reopen as you normally would and it will be fine.

Try a hard reset:

Hold the power button and the home button down at the same time until you see the Apple logo ~ approx 10 seconds.

Let it reboot.

Thanks. I've kept the instructions for the next time it happens, fortunately a Thai receptionist knew how to fix it but couldn't relay to me
