Shifting itunes from C: drive to D: drive, but still being able to synch with the ipa

Hi, I am a total ipad convert and now have a huge itunes file on the main drive of my asus netbook. This is slowing down the asus as the C: drive has all the important operating stuff. When I shift itunes to the quiet, hardly used D: drive my ipad cannot find it. Any suggestions?
