I'm new to this. Is. There a way to keep skype always open in back ground ready to receive calls ?

I believe if you open Skype and log-in, you should remain online as long as you don't close the app completely.

In other words, get it going, then hit your Home button to continue to use your iPad. Skype should still be running in the background.

Yes. Skpe keeps open as long as you dont physically shut it down or power down the ipad.

OS 4 includes multi-tasking support. So If are using oS 4 you can keep skype always open in background.
