I have read and read all kinds of forums on charging and so confused. My problem: I charged my ipad overnight from 25% and in morning it was only 39%. Why isn't it charging to a full time? I have shut off all unnesscessary things I don't need. Please advise......

Hi Sandy... - welcome to the forum! :) You first need to provide more information: 1) What iPad model are you using? and 2) How are you charing the iPad, i.e. using the 10 or 12 Watt charger that came w/ the device or a USB port on a computer?

First the iPad should easily charge to 100% overnight (that's how I do mine), so your experience is atypical, and might be explained if you are using a low-powered USB port (thus, the reason for the question). Second, have you followed Apple's advise below on taking the iPad through a FULL charge cycle (more information HERE).

If you are indeed using the right charger & have taken the iPad regularly through a full cycle of charging, then if not already done, 'Reset' the device, try a different but appropriate charger, or if all fails, a visit to an Apple store may be in order - good luck and let us know the results. Dave

For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

I am using ipad 2 and charge with a charger from Walmart. I don't have high power USB And didn't work on reg one. So if the devise doesn't charge all the way to 100% how am I to let it run all the way down? Can I just let run down regardless on any percentage? I did reset, but didn't help too much. Thanks for all the advise. I will try letting the battery run way down and start it all new. Next step maybe an Apple store.

Hi again - did the charger from Walmart work initially and is no longer charging? What is the brand of the charger and can you see the output, i.e. Apple iPad chargers supply 10 or 12 Watts of power (5 V x 2 or 2.4 Amps) - if the charger never worked from the start and if the output is half or so indicated, then that is the reason. Let us know your answers - thanks. Dave :)

I just got a retractable non-apple one because both my apple one's stopped charging intermittently and then altogether! I don't know how important it is to charge to 100%. It would have an impact on how long the battery will last, obviously! But as far as apple cables go - i have spent too much money on apple cables! Have you tried a retractable one?

Peace begins with a smile. :)
