What's new

So have you updated to iOS 6.1? And how it is it?

Nothing much new for me! I was hoping that iTunes would now see my devices without cable connection but no such luck! Oh well!

Normally you need to connect your device at least once to get iTunes to see it via wifi.

Mine does not work in any case :)

Doesn't appear to have anything exciting.....

Chief among the new features is 4G LTE support for more carriers, along with a feature that lets users purchase movie tickets from Fandango after finding showtimes using Siri. Apple also returned the option for iTunes Match subscribers to download individual songs from iCloud, something that was quietly removed in a previous software release.

On the privacy side, the update also adds an option to reset Apple's advertising identifier option, the "non-permanent, non-personal, device identifier" feature added as part of iOS 6.

Other, minor changes in iOS 6.1 include new boarding pass behavior in Apple's Passbook software, tweaks to Safari, reworked music playback controls from the lock screen, and a back-end change in Apple's mapping software.

No differences based on my daily use except for the lack of tweaks since it was wiped and I didn't restore my developer settings and it's not jailbroken yet. As for battery life, I don't see any difference at all on that matter under light/moderate use and heavy use.

Thanks for the update description, that was really helpful Blue92!

The update has resolved the calendar crashing (for me) that has been an issue for many previously.

I've not seen no benefits.
Backed up and updated via iTunes last night, since then it takes forever to open some websites such as this forum, I'm on satellite broadband, some sites can drag on due to lag/ping, but this is exceptional, my PC and androids are ok, same as usual, I'm also unable to use tversity pro, on chrome and safari its unavailable, reload page comes up, feels like a network problem...

New ipad user. Update went easy but seemed to automatically turned on the iCloud feature which I'm not interested in using. Can I turn off iCloud? When icloud loaded did it automatically store all my data? Will I lose any data?
