Space disappearing

I have a 16gb iPad with 4gb used on music and about 2gb on apps, as far as I can tell ios6 should only use up 2 or so gb. Thus why do I only have 300 mb spare 'space'. Also I noticed the amount missing is around the same as the avatar movie I downloaded and recently deleted, any help welcome.

Settings/Usage/Storage will tell you how much space is being used by your apps. Some apps are space hogs, and need to be periodically deleted and reinstalled to free up the space.

I have about 20 coming to 1gb in total, I checked the apps already and it isn't that. Space is literally just gone. Any other ideas?
