Static from speakers?

I noticed this a bit back, but thought it was nothing big, but whenever my ipad plays sound for any length of time (longer than, say 5 seconds) it starts to have a very light static sound almost underneath. It's nothing huge, but its definitely not the crisp, clear sound I would expect. Happens when I use music, videos, or games.

Any thoughts?

Does it only happen with the speaker or with headphones or a Bluetooth speaker setup also?

It appears to only be the iPad's speakers - when I put earbuds in it doesn't have any static at all.

Maybe the problem is with the speaker connection to the circuit. A faulty connection could result in static during use.
