Steve Jobs Passes Away

A truly sad day. Amazing the amount of comment worldwide about his passing and talk of the effect he had on the world in general and the computer universe specifically.

There won't be a new Steve Jobs, or Bill Gates, or new versions of the other major figures who grew the small computer into a world changing product. They're from an extremely different era. The guys who drove things in the internet boom were a different sort of people largely because of the influence of their predecessors.

You need to look to a new product entirely to find the next people who achieve that kind of legend. A category that most people aren't sure is even a real product for most of the world. This is where the big personalities emerge. But comparing today to my recollections of the 70s when the micro stuff took off, I just don't see it ever happening the same way again. The world just doesn't work that way anymore.​

The world has lost a true relentless visionary for inspiring perfection. I hope he finds his perfect rest. I wish his family all the best. RIP.
