stopping an auto download from iTunes

I was wondering how to keep a tv show from downloading from iTunes. I was looking at a pilot and now have no interest in keeping it. iTunes keeps trying to download it to my iPad every time I sync. I have checked and unchecked everything to keep it from doing that, but it tries every time. I can stop it each time, but it is getting to be a pain. Thanks.
